how to convert UK vintage knitting needles and crochet hooks to modern US and UK sizes

If you like to knit or crochet with a vintage pattern, it can be confusing which needles or hooks to use.

Perhaps you have bought a beautiful looking pattern from Etsy or Ebay and don't know what yarn you need to use.
