Free Quick to Knit Super Chunky Headband Knitting Pattern

This headband is a super fast knit and a great idea for something that you could give as a gift or sell.

The headband in this photograph is knit on 12mm needles and this very chunky yarn.

The yarn is really very chunky and I think the headband would look even better with a slightly thinner wool and knit with 10mm needles.

Required: 50g super chunky yarn.

Pair of  10mm or 12mm knitting needles

Needle for sewing up

Abbreviations: k -knit, p-purl, k2tog -knit 2 together, yrn -yarn around needle.

Cast on 10 stitches

Commence pattern thus

Row 1 -knit entire row

Row 2 -knit 2, purl 6,  knit 2

Row 3 -knit 2, (k1, yrn, k2tog) 2 times, k2

Row 4 -as row 3

Repeat pattern until headband is of desired length and cast off knitwise. 18inches snuggly fits an average head but of course the beauty of hand knitting is that you can make to measure. Sew up back seam and weave in all ends. Sew on button or applique or leave plain.
